2019-02-21T19:34:33+00:00

Wes Finch & The Rude Mechanicals Band combine their passion for poetry and love of music in a unique style.

Invigorating acoustic guitar and vocals are accompanied by double bass, violin, viola, percussion and drums.

Wes wrote songs for a Royal Shakespeare Company competition. These were picked up by the BBC and the band played at the RSC’s Other Place Theatre in Stratford as part of BBC Radio 3’s ‘400 years of Shakespeare’ celebrations.

The Rude Mechanicals have been described as ‘a blast of originality’ and have shared stages with Billy Bragg, Martin Carthy, Richard Thompson and many others at venues small and large, folk clubs and festivals across the U.K. and beyond.

Radcliffe is in for a real musical treat.

Midnight in Paris

Midnight in Paris

Paris in February … RadVentures hosts Oh La La, a brilliant quartet with ‘chanteuse’ who entertain in classic Parisienne style.

The combo offers a cool blend of classy musicianship, some vivid and telling French vocals and authentic Parisian chanson, seen by many as France’s  own soul music.

They move through flamboyant 1960’s pop, classic jazz and ‘impressionist’ music; the Can Can, and bring  that ‘certain little café in Paris, just by the Seine’ to Radcliffe.

There are exquisite treatments of songs made famous by Edith Piaf, France’s ‘Little Sparrow’and one of her famous daughters and Serge Gainsbourg, the French David Bowie.

Numbers by Mick Jagger John Lennon, Francoise Hardy, the light-spirited yé yé girl follow on.

Vocalist and accordionist Fifi la Mer turns every song into a mini drama, delivered with elegance, sensuality and sharp wit alongside her fellow musicians.

Honey

by Reaction Theatre Co.

A PLAY FROM A HIGHLY RESPECTED THEATRE COMPANY ON TOUR

Set in the beautiful Welsh Mountains with a musical backdrop of specially written folk tunes, this is a drama about a family in tatters brought together by hopes and dreams.

A husband away fighting a war but it’s not a war story.  A tattoo artist with his own dilemmas and not just with ink.  A mother struggling and surviving, and a son who loves to dance despite his physical problems. He’s autistic.

‘Honey’ sweetly sticks together their tales as slick and splendid as the ‘bees waggle dance’
